Many , Volunteer, Paid, and Combination Paid and Volunteer
Fire Departments have for a very long time had "auxiliary divisions" that were
primarily organized to assist the department in administrative needs, providing
rehabilitation on fire scenes. (drinks, water, food)
The AVFD formally organized our "auxiliary division" into the P.A.L.S. some
years ago. Without the P.A.L.S. there are many things in
our department that would be very difficult to successfully accomplish or
complete.
The P.A.L.S. provide assistance in data input for our fire
"Pre-Planning" so that when we arrive on a fire scene we are better prepared to
fight the fire because we have pre-existing information that tells us before we
get there what kind of resources we will need.
The P.A.L.S. provide organizational assistance
to the department administrator by assisting in filing, answering phones,
helping to complete paperwork and many other assorted administrative tasks.
The P.A.L.S. provide organization to our
annual Muscular Dystrophy Association "Fill the Boot Drive" In our community we
have always had a long standing tradition of helping Jerrys Kids. Each year you
will see us out with our fire boots asking you to provide whatever monetary
assistance you can to help with this noble cause.
The P.A.L.S. organize and fund our annual
department winter party, using absolutely no funding from the AVFD.
ALL P.A.L.S. FUNCTIONS AND ASSISTANCE TO THE ATASCOCITA
VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT, AS WELL AS ASSISTANCE THAT WE PROVIDE TO OTHER FIRE
DEPARTMENTS FOR "MUTUAL AID" ARE DONE SO ENTIRELY BASED UPON CONTRIBUTIONS AND
ZERO DEPARTMENT FUNDING.
