The growing population in northeast Harris County prompted emergency officials to gather to discuss strategies that will benefit the residents of Atascocita. The Atascocita Fire Department made State of Texas history when AVFD responded with MPV 6-2 to the first AMBUS (Ambulance-Bus) deployment in Texas history.

MPV 6-2 is a large custom built bus that is capable of accommodating and transporting 26 patients while providing advanced level care. MPV 6-2 was purchased by the South East Texas Regional Advisory Council (SETRAC) for hospital evacuations and large scale disaster responses. The AMBUS is the first in Texas and is housed, staffed, and operated by the Atascocita Fire Department while remaining an asset of SETRAC.

ATASCOCITA, Texas – Firefighters from the Atascocita Fire Department quickly extinguished a house fire in the 5000 block of Fawn Trail Ct in the early morning hours of Tuesday, August 2. Several hours later crew also extinguished another house fire in the 4000 block of Great Forest Ct.

ATASCOCITA - Atascocita firefighters responded to several emergency calls in the early evening hours yesterday, June 5, including reports of trees and power lines down as a fast moving thunderstorm passed through the area.

Sunday May 22, 2011 from 12 noon to 4:00 p.m. the Atascocita Volunteer Fire Department, in cooperation with Target Stores, will be on hand with preparedness information and free preparedness handouts. A fast moving brush fire consumed about 1 and half acres in the brushy area between Shrub Oak Drive and Shannon Lane early Wednesday evening, May 4.

AVFD installs MDT's in the majority of their fleet.

The Atascocita Fire Department has completed installation of Mobile Data Terminals (MDT’s) into it’s fleet. MDT’s are laptop computers that greatly assist the fire department respond to emergencies. In a one month trial, one of Atascocita Fire Department’s ambulances was outfitted with an MDT. During that month, the average response time for that ambulance was nearly 1 minute and 45 seconds faster than without the MDT.

On Sunday, March 13 between the hours of 12 noon and 4:30 p.m. the Atascocita Volunteer Fire Department will be hosting a blood drive at Atascocita Fire Station 2 located at 4000 Atascocita Road, Humble, TX.
