The lone bagpipe in the distance No longer makes a sound Tears in you're eyes You're brother in the ground You hear seven bells And the "ten-seven" You know he's on his way To fight fires in heaven
Standing in line
At the Pearly Gates
Two others in front of him
Awaiting to hear their fate
When his turn comes
He trembles with fear
The Almighty asks him
"Son, why are you here"
"I died in a fire"
But before he could finish
God drew him near
"You're a firefighter" God asks
A slight squeak of "Yes sir" is the reply
The Pearly Gates swing open
"Come on in" says God
As he tolls the bell
"You belong in Heaven,
You've seen enough of hell"
