You are sound asleep-In the middle of the night Loud sounds wake you up-You begin to feel fright-Those tones you hear are all too familiar-Fire in the county-It may be your neighbor- Your husband jumps up-He pulls on his gear-Its a house down the road Your heart fills with fear-Being Volunteers-Their equipment poor-You pray they can save it-Before it burns to the floor-So the next time you see-Fireman "Passing the Boot"-Remember they're Volunteers-And the community is their roots.
