Logistics Manager- Fleet and Fire Equipment

 

Harris County Emergency Services District No. 46 (HCESD No. 46) is currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of Logistics Manager- Fleet and Fire Equipment. This is afull-time, non-exempt, hourly position.

 

Job Summary

This position is responsible for managing the District’s fleet and loose fire equipment parts, supplies, fluids, and assets.  This includes managing all aspects of automotive and truck parts, loose fire equipment, as well as shipping and receiving for the Fleet Service Center.  The position must set and maintain adequate par levels for the inventory and parts based on usage, need, cost, and projected lead times.  The position also maintains the computerized inventory system of record, creates purchase requisitions, inspects items on receipt, and validates invoices prior to payment.  This position reports directly to the Director of Operations Support, but is under the mentorship, advisory, and oversight of the Lead EVT. This position works closely with the Battalion chiefs, officers, and field staff when repairing, maintaining and coordinating preventative maintenance on various department assets to ensure they are available for service.

 

Work Schedule

The position generally follows standard business hours, but may be allowed to work flexible hours or required to work shift work, extended shifts, or weekends, on occasions.  Position also requires being subject to stand-by, call-out, and disaster recalls.

 

Compensation Package

$60,000 annually
Health, dental and vision insurance, 100% paid premium for employee, 80% paid premium for dependents
Monthly department paid HSA/HRA contribution
Life insurance, 100% paid premium for employee (1x annual salary + $50,000)
TCDRS retirement, 7% employee contribution, 250% employer match

Nine paid holidays

 

Minimum Qualification Requirements

• Must be 18 years or older
• High School Diploma or GED Equivalent 
• Texas Driver’s Class C License and be insurable by the District’s insurance provider. 
• Attention to detail and strict adherence to stocking policies and procedures is a must
• 3+ years in on-the-job parts specialist experience in directly relatable fields (trucking, apparatus, etc…)
• 3+ years experience with fire equipment/supplies strongly preferred
• Verifiable knowledge of the fire equipment and apparatus parts ecosystem strongly preferred
• Obtain and maintain the following certifications/licenses
Within 12 months of hire: ASE P1, NIMS/FEMA courses, as assigned
Within 3 months of hire: forklift, OSHA 10 hour, and environmental certifications as assigned
Texas Class B Non-CDL or higher
• Reside within 90 minutes of the Fleet Service Center and ability to be onsite for after hours emergencies within 2 hours
• Command of the English language, including reading, writing, speaking, and typing
• Ability to type 25-30 wpm accurately 
• Proficient in Excel, Word, and office computer systems
• Proficient with CSV files and bulk importing and exporting data between disparate systems using CSV file formats is a must
• Ability to produce detailed and accurate records
