EMR PROGRAM FAQ’s
This class will be presented in a hybrid fashion with the didactic material presented through an online format. Skills will be taught and tested during six (6) Saturday, in person classes. 24 hours of ambulance clinicals are also required and may be completed here at AFD.
Time requirement: 57 hours of course work, 40 hours of skills training/testing, 24 hours of ambulance clinical time.

This course is designed to provide the knowledge and skills necessary to care for a patient prior to the arrival of the ambulance. As an entry-level EMS certification, this course is perfect for firefighters, plant workers and safety teams.

The tuition is $500, due by the first day of class.
This fee includes your textbook, clinical uniform shirts, electronic resources, and drug test.
Fee does not include: Medical tests/records, NREMT application fee, NREMT testing few, or DSHS application fee.
- You must have a high school diploma or GED
- Pass a criminal background check
- Provide verification of immunizations:
- Hepatitis B vaccination (at least started)
- MMR
- Varicella
- Tetanus
- TB test (<6 months old)
- Current Flu vaccination
- Pass a drug test
