Neal W Smith
Neal held the position of Captain at Station 1 and has served as Lieutenant at Station 3, Fire Training Officer (Recruitment) as well as serving on the Board of Directors as the Board's Treasurer since joining the Department on November 15, 2008.
Training Credentials include SFFMA Basic Fire Suppression (Accredited), FEMA ICS-100 (Intro to Incident Command), IS-00700 (National Incident Management Systems), IS-00200 (ICS for Single Resources and Initial Action Incidents) and he was the Honor Graduate for the 2008 Recruit Class.
Neal received Certificate of Appreciation for service during hurricane Ike and Fire Fighter of the Month on two separate occasions.
Captain Neal Smith lost his life in the line of duty as a result of injuries he sustained on the fire training field in Beaumont, Texas. Captain Neal Smith certainly had a passion for firefighting, and more so, a passion for training.
Most notably known for his passion for training, Captain Neal Smith, was always working on inspiring others to train to be the best they could be. A true volunteer, Captain Neal Smith, was a constant within the department.
Always there to pick up the slack and always willing to be on duty when the department was in need. We all have come to admire and respect Captain Neal Smith as a true leader within the department, his personal impact on the department and the community he enthusiastically served will truly be missed.
